You have to capitalise on any success you have and keep doing what you do as well as you can. But how do you define success? In my book, it's to be playing those parts you saw your idols -- Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, Vanessa Redgrave -- playing when they were the age you are now.
You have to calendar time for yourself even if you have no idea what you're going to do with it.
You have to buy what you're selling. If you don't buy what you're selling, nobody will.
You have to build yourself up a bit. You have to believe in yourself, because not that many other people will, you know?
You have to build your credentials as a candidate, not just as a woman. You also have to be willing to exercise power. We've been educated to be mothers, peacemakers, but we must learn that we can't please everybody.
You have to build up to green smoothies. Everyone loves fruit smoothies: you can add a handful of baby spinach to a fruit smoothie and may hardly even taste it. Next, try two. Slowly, your taste buds can adapt to more greens.
You have to build up a credibility before the support comes to you.
You have to build trust among team members so that people feel free to admit what they don't know, make mistakes, ask for help if they need it, apologize when necessary, and not hold back their opinions.
You have to build relationships and learn what are the things that are of interest to other members of Congress, what are the things that folks have been taking a lead on for a really long time.
You have to build a team, but someone's got to lead, and someone's got to be unpopular at times.
You have to build a culture of philanthropy. In a country like India, we need to be sensitive and caring about the poorer, more disadvantaged section of our country.
You have to break down before you can break through.
You have to bounce in life with joy. Your strength lies in your smiles and your songs.
You have to block everything out and be extremely focused and be relaxed and mellow too.
You have to believe. You have to stick to your guns.
You have to believe. Otherwise, it will never happen.
You have to believe yourself to be the centre of the world, or you believe nothing. You start to treat yourself very badly.
You have to believe you're great. You have to have an air about you. My success wasn't because I was a great talent, but because I wanted it more than anybody else. Every minute I step on that field, I want to prove I'm the best player in the league.
You have to believe what you're saying if you're going to convince me. I just can't break that rule, even if I want to.
